My apartment was without a/c for two weeks before management did something

I miss renting my old house.

Now I’m living in an apartment and I’ve had nothing but problems since I moved here.

The first issue is the rent costs, as they keep rising every year. I know that the housing market’s rebound is partially to blame for this, but it doesn’t help people like me who are already struggling to find housing as it is. I’m not getting raises at work to match my growing cost of living. But I wish my problems with my apartment were purely economical, but they’re not. Whenever I have a plumbing or electrical issue, the building manager drags his feet for as long as possible. He refuses to hire additional maintenance and repair staff so the one person he has is constantly overtaxed and behind on visiting other units for more repairs. One time I had to deal with no electricity in my apartment for a whole day simply because the maintenance man somehow switched off power to my unit while messing with the breaker boxes. Recently I had to endure two weeks without air conditioning during a hot summer heat wave. I called the building manager every morning until he finally sent out the maintenance man. Once he realized the job was beyond his capabilities, I had to wait another week before a heating and cooling company would arrive. I was miserable trying to work from home during those two weeks. I had fans running in every room and open windows, but it doesn’t do much when it’s 95 degrees outside. Sadly, the a/c never returned to its normal operating capacity even after it was “fixed” and reassembled.
