I have been working as an independent contractor for the last eight years.
I work when I want and I make my own hours and my own schedule.
It’s a great job to be honest. I work on lots of different types of residential and commercial electrical repairs. I install generators, fix lighting and wiring issues and help with building code violations. I use a lot of different tools for the job. Sometimes I have to buy new tools that help make my job a little bit easier from one day to the next. I got a great deal on some used electrical repair tools from the pawn shop. I wasn’t there for the tools, but I saw them and they were a really good deal. I didn’t really check through the bag to see what was inside. After I got home, I realized that some of the tools weren’t really in very good shape. I probably paid a little too much money for the tools. I was bummed out by my bad spur of the moment decision, but that just reminds me that some deals aren’t as good as you think. I understand why the tools were so cheap after seeing the poor condition. I have a commercial electrical wiring project next month and that job will be pretty big. It’s supposed to take two weeks. I was hired along with a dozen additional independent electrical contractors. The job pays really well, because of the union. When it’s over, I’ll be able to make some necessary tool upgrades.
