I was kneeling on my favorite recliner last week, and I noticed it was getting a bit of thread bare, but my sister told myself and others it was time to replace the chair, although I could not afford to buy another one; I had spent more than $1000 on this chair about 4 years ago; The kids played in the chair and the two of us all sat on it.
- I wondered if it would be worth reupholstering.
I called the local upholstery shop and asked about getting my recliner reupholstered! She asked if the chair was leather and I said it was just cloth. She asked about the mechanisms and the stuffing, and wanted to guess how much use the chair got. She then asked when I purchased the chair and what I paid for it, however when I told him when I bought it and how much it cost, she said I would be better off purchasing a current recliner. She said that they made current chairs more cheaply now than they made them before, and it would cost more to reupholster than if the two of us bought a current chair. She told myself and others it would be a waste of her time and my money to have the reupholstering done. I thought she was being mean and telling myself and others the chair was cheap, although I could not refute what she was saying. I had already looked at the cost of reupholstering and I could actually buy more than one chairs for the price of reupholstering my old recliner. I ditched the plan of having my chair reupholstered, and went shopping, looking for a current recliner.
