I was met with quite the conundrum this evening.
It’s Halloween, and I was halfway between deciding whether or not I should go home and give out candy or stay out late doing the things I normally do, like going to the gym or taking care of some extra work at the office.
There were two things that made me decide to go ahead and head home to give out candy. One, I had a whole bunch of candy left over from a Halloween party earlier in the week. The other reason is that I knew my dog would be going crazy every single time the doorbell rang. I didn’t want him to be stressed out. Now, the problem with making sure the doorbell never rings is that I have to be outside in the heat. It’s not a particularly cool and crisp Halloween this year. That’s not exactly unusual for the Southeast. It still sucks that I need to be outside in the heat and humidity instead of at least sitting in the foyer, waiting for kids to come to the door under the air conditioning. One definitely needs air conditioner on an evening like this. Then again, all the kids are out there in there costumes, many of which are probably quite hot and suffocating in and of themselves, never mind the fact that it actually is hot and muggy outside. I’m sure they’re having plenty of fun despite not being in the air conditioning. Halloween has always been about the adventure of exploring neighborhoods far and wide to get that sweet sweet candy. At any rate, when the night is over, I’ll be glad to go back inside into the A/C and take a nice cool shower!
