My wife and I wanted to have a romantic afternoon to ourselves. We had a few hours to work with this past Saturday. My wife got all excited for a traditional picnic at the park. She even got the stereotypical red and white checkered blanket and the stereotypical basket. She packed fresh fruit, potato salad, chips, some sparkling wine coolers, and I made the best darn sandwiches that I could put together! We were quite impressed with the spread that we had packed. Unfortunately, mother nature wanted to hate on us that day as hard as she could. The weather said it would be clear, but unfortunately, it was bright and hot as a result of being clear. We were enjoying the food well enough, but the pesky sun was glaring down on us. Finally, I had an idea. I asked my wife how she would feel about simply getting into the truck and finishing our picnic. My truck has ample room and we would be able to eat and talk with the air conditioning blasting. We were already enjoying each other’s company enough, so the only difference would be having air conditioning and being more comfortable. She agreed that was a good idea. It felt a little silly driving to the park just to eat lunch in the truck, but it sure felt good blasting that A/C! We soon saw that we made the right decision, because a big rolling black cloud suddenly came up from the west. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a storm come in so quickly. It only took about 10 minutes for the rain to be on us. Now it was going to be muggy and sticky outside, so the air conditioner was going to be even more appreciated!
