I have two teenage daughters, which is just as stressful as it sounds. I have no sons, and don’t know what it’s like to parent a teenage boy, but there is no way in hell it can be as challenging as parenting boys! My oldest is in her senior year of high school, and has started researching schools. It was not a self-explanatory conversation to have, when it was time to tell her I was pretty broke plus could not afford school tuition. For the record, I know schools are one of the biggest scams out there, and charge exorbitant amounts of money. Instead I nudged her in the direction of taking HVAC classes at the trade school and told her to know about getting into that line of work, my child was aghast the suggestion, but then I started spitting facts and figures at her about all the benefits there are to actually working in the HVAC industry. First of all, the demand for HVAC task is still on the rise, which gives it more job security than almost any other industry, secondly, an HVAC tech starts off making more money than most instructors and cops make, also perhaps the most crucial for her, was the HVAC industry being actively interested in recruiting females. The heating plus cooling industry has long been a “boys club” so there has been a crucial push to recruit female talent. In other words, after she gets her HVAC certification she will really be able to find work, and start off with an excellent salary.
