I moved to this town because I wanted to be out of the city after living my life that way since I was a kid. I grew up in city apartments with not enough air conditioning in the summer and too much radiant heating in the winter. I guess I’ll take too much heating that not enough. But that radiant heating was just basically on all winter. There wasn’t much adjustment to that type of heating method. There were times we had to crack a window it got so hot in that apartment. After college, I started my career in the city and found that I was just over it. So I moved here and I was actually one of the very first people I had ever heard of that worked remotely from home. The internet was still in its infancy but I saw that this was my lifeline to getting out of the city and working from home. Now, I’m facing many of the things that I faced in the city with crime being one of them. This little town has blown up into a bedroom community for the city and brought a fair bit of crime with it. These days, I even have to lock down the HVAC equipment next to my house. The latest criminal trend is to rip out all of the heating and cooling components from the inside of the HVAC cabinet. They just toss these parts that are worth so much money. Instead, the criminals are after the handfuls of copper tubing. It’s just insane. Who knows, maybe it’s time for me to move a bit further out again.
