It’s that time of year when those of us who live here are all reaching for the HVAC cooling. We are now officially at the start of the heat season or perhaps you know it as summer. Many places that have to use things like a gas furnace or a boiler for HVAC heating in the winter get pleasant summers. I guess that’s sort of the trade off perhaps. I know that I simply couldn’t live where I had to deal with that sort of cold. So that makes it a bit more easy to deal with four months of scorched earth heat and humidity. This is the trade off for 8 months of basically perfect weather the rest of the year. But this is the time that no matter who you are or how long you’ve lived here, the air conditioning is on. I know that many of us don’t go straight for the thermostat once the temperatures start to climb in March and April. I like to wait and allow myself to get accustomed to the heat. Too much air conditioning actually makes the heat of summer feel even more oppressive to me. So I just allow myself the spring to acclimate. But now, we’re into June and the thermostat has been moved over to cooling for the duration. I like to still get outside and enjoy the wonderful, natural stuff around here. But for sure, I do it in the morning or late in the evening. Otherwise, it’s just too hot. The peak heating hours of the day are for being inside the HVAC cooling somewhere, that’s for sure.
