I learned how to fix HVAC units as a kid, and it is a skill that I am so thankful for.
I honestly don’t know what I would do without the skills that I learned from my dad.
My dad may not have been an HVAC technician, but he was really great at fixing HVAC units. I don’t know where he learned how to fix an HVAC unit. I know that my dad worked as a plumber, and he was a good plumber. However, he gave up his career as a plumber to become the pastor of a small church. His work as a plumber paid very well, but his work as a pastor did not. He still worked as a bus driver, but we were always tight on money. In order to save money, he learned how to fix stuff in our house to save money. One of the things that he learned how to fix was our furnace. Since we could not afford a really nice furnace, we had an old furnace that worked decently. However, the furnace would break down at least once a year, and my dad fixed it. I don’t know if he taught himself how to fix furnaces or if he learned how to fix furnaces as a kid, but he was good. We never had a central air conditioner, so we did not have to worry about that. However, since my dad always wanted to teach me stuff, he made me help him learn how to fix the furnace. Although I may not have enjoyed it as a kid, I am so thankful for the experience. I have saved so much money as an adult by fixing my own furnace. HVAC technicians charge a lot of money, but I don’t have to worry about that.
