I made the horrible mistake of doing my own window film installation.
I gutted and redid my whole upstairs bathroom.
My husband and I did all the work ourselves. We had to tile the floors, make a shower basin, create recessed shelving, replace the sink vanity and countertop and add a new faucet. Replacing the window was a huge mess. It took my husband hours to finally get it in the right place. After that I really didn’t think I could ask him to do the window film for it. I ordered it online and decided I would do it myself. Thank goodness I ordered more than enough. My bathroom window is quite small. The bathroom window is maybe two feet by two feet. I got enough for double the window and nearly didn’t have enough window film. The reason is that I was totally idiotic when isntalling it. You need to be very careful when laying the window film down. It kind of reminded me of putting on a phone screen protector only larger and more important. You want all the edges covered and smooth. Of course I kept getting air bubbles no matter what I did. I also ripped part of a film in half and had to do a horrible patch job. At the end of the day, I did it. I do have a tinted window film on my bathroom window. Outside the house it is black and inside you have a view. Only I would see my failure there. The ends aren’t totally straight and there are bubbles. I see the rip where I made a patch job. Next time I am hiring a window film company to do it.
