Heater Inspection

The heater in your home plays an essential role in comfort and safety.

A home should be equipped to withstand freezing temperatures during the winter months.

As with any home appliance, heaters require maintenance and inspection from time to time. It is important to keep heaters clean both inside and outside of the home, and many types of heaters need to be monitored to ensure they remain safe. When should your home’s heater be inspected? It depends on several factors. When your home uses to heat a lot, relies heavily on heat during the winter, or has a finicky heater design, an inspection every six months is not out of the question. This preventative work ensures that any problems will be caught early and prevented, much like going to the dentist so often. Generally, it is recommended that annual heater inspections be in early autumn or late spring for most people. By having a yearly heater inspection, you can ensure that your heater is always in good condition and that you never go longer than a year without discovering a problem. Keeping a heater warm and putting it away each year is also responsible. Climate also influences how often your heater needs to be inspected. The heater is a vital piece of equipment in regions where it snows inches to feet every year, and winter storms are frequent. You should have your heater inspected at least once a year, maybe twice a year, to ensure it works properly when you need it. When there is frost every winter, the heater will still be important to keep the family warm and safe. You should have your furnace, gas heater, and boiler inspected and maintained annually in these areas. This will ensure that your heater is in good shape and ready to fire up again. The entire house can be harmed by minor malfunctions, such as a clogged flue or loose seal. Homes in warm climates with little winter require fewer heaters. The home HVAC usually uses electric heaters, and sometimes the heaters aren’t used at all in a year. In these climates, you should schedule an inspection every two to five years – whether you feel you need one or not. The assessment makes sure your filter is clean, your wires are in good shape, and you don’t have too much dust in the system before turning it on for the cold winter.
