It’s been so great relocating to a new area and not taking years to find a community.
I was so scared I’d be alone for a long time after I relocated for work.
But, that wasn’t the case. A coworker invited me to her church on my first week at work, and I am so happy I agreed to go. She passed by my apartment building to pick me up on Sunday morning and we rode together to church. On the way, my coworker kept saying I will love the services, and the main pastor was a great man. I did my best to relax, but I had never attended a new church. Back home, we went to the same church we did since I was a kid. So, finding this new place made me a little nervous. Fortunately, my coworker was right and I found the best people who welcomed me with open arms. I also got to meet the pastor, and he is now a mentor and friend. I love the church, and attend regularly. My only issue is I rarely go there during summer because the church has no HVAC cooling system. When I first attended this church, it was towards the end of winter. They do have a boiler in the basement that keeps the church nice and warm during the winter season. However, there’s no air conditioning and it gets so hot, especially during June and July. I did ask about adding a commercial HVAC cooling unit to the church, but they said that’s not part of the urgent plans. Perhaps some day they will budget for a commercial HVAC cooling unit.
