I love my mom. She is a warrior, and I believe there isn’t much she can’t do. When I was three, mom did the most brave thing she could do. She left my dad and moved in with her sister. Even though my dad was in a financial position to take care of us, he was physically and emotionally abusive to my mom. And things got worse when one day they were fighting and dad ended up hitting me. Mom knew right there and then we had to leave, and my aunt welcomed us with open arms. Jess, my aunt’s daughter and I became so close, and have been so since those early days when we lived together. Mom eventually finished her degree, found a better job, and we moved into a house down the block from my aunt’s place. It’s been many years since those days, and I am doing great thanks to my mom’s love and guidance. Recently, I bought my first home and mom came over to see it. We were seated in my kitchen having a snack as we spoke about my HVAC system. I informed mom that I got the new HVAC system from a local heating and cooling business, and I planned to also order air filters from the same place. Mom said I was better off going for disposable air filters since they were better for my unit. However, I was thinking more along the lines of washable air filters for my cooling system. Somehow we got into a debate about this, and mom tried hard to convince me to go for disposable air filters. But, my mind was set on washable air filters since I am mindful of the environment.
