The merits of programmable thermostats

Programmable thermostats can end up saving folks a whole bunch of money on their energy costs. You just have to take the time to figure out how to program it, that’s all. But before you do that, make sure that the programmable thermostat that you have purchased is compatible with your HVAC system. It should be indicated somewhere on the tin, so to speak. But why is it worth programming a thermostat to be at a certain temperature at a certain time instead of doing it manually? Well, it’s really going to help you save money on heating and cooling when nobody’s occupying the house. And what about if you live in an area of the country that has drastic changes in temperature throughout the day and night? A programmable thermostat is a particularly useful asset at that point, let me tell you! It’s a hassle to have to go over to the thermostat and adjust it every time you leave the house and every time you return. Why not set it up to where it adjusts itself? It’s been said that for every degree that you turn your thermostat up or down to save money, you’re saving about 1% of your energy bill! So what if you do like your A/C cranked up in the evening when you’re trying to get a good night’s rest? You surely don’t want it set to a low temperature for the entire day while you’re gone at work, so what if you forget to bring it back up before you leave? In short, anybody that wants to save money should really look into programmable thermostats. And if that’s too much of a hassle, there are smart thermostats to consider, but that’s a different article.
