My AC system is in dire need of cleaning, so today I am getting some of that spray cleaner and cleaning the coils of my condenser. If you aren’t sure how to do this then you should hire an HVAC company because the chemicals are pretty strong and you need to know how to do it and where to locate the coils of the unit. I like to wear a respirator when I clean them so I’m not breathing in heavy chemicals, which go right into the bloodstream and affect the body in dangerous ways, especially over long periods of time. When I was a local contractor this was another issue with the work; constantly being around heavy chemicals each day for years and years. I tried to avoid it as much as possible, but sometimes you just had to be very close to heavy chemicals. Well, at least I quit being a local contractor a long time ago so maybe I dodged a bullet with all of the chemicals I could have still been around each day. I think I was about 37 years old when I left the racket of painting so I only really did it for about five years until getting out of the daily use of chemicals. My HVAC rep told me that a few years around chemicals like that is not a big deal, it’s the 40 years or more around them that will cause you problems in the long run. I think I’ll just stick to cleaning my HEPA filter, and that’s about it as far as manual labor goes nowadays.
