One day last week, I realized it had been far too long since I had gone to the beach.
At that point, I didn’t have much of a tan to speak of, and I was yearning for the sand and the surf.
I decided that really weekend I would make a day trip to the beach. It’s only about 45 minutes away from where I live. Now, I’m embarrassed to confess that I did something really foolish. I honestly forgot to bring sunscreen. The weather was nice enough, so I ended up falling asleep in the sun! It wasn’t even all that overheated outside, however it does not matter when you are directly under the sun! My face and our stomach and our legs were toasted! I could not wait to get back new home to our air conditioner. I was already starting to peel by the time I walked through the front door. The air conditioner felt definitely good, and it was time to start the healing process. I ran a frigid shower, and it felt so wonderful against our skin. Then I lay on our bed as I applied aloe vera to all the areas that were burned. The combination of the aloe vera and the air conditioner washing over the gel was a single of the most soothing and satisfying feelings I have ever felt! It’s the simple things, right? I mean, nobody wants to get a sunburn, however man did that feel good! As I lay there reclaiming from our sunburn, I reflected on how grateful I am for air conditioner. What the heck did people do back in the day when they were severely sunburned, however they didn’t have an air conditioned new home to return to? I shudder to think!
