I walked into a lovely coffee shop with hundreds of butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
I was nervous because I was here for a blind date.
The conversation with my date was lively; my date, Tom, told me he worked as a cooling specialist and owned a cooling corporation. He even commented on the digital thermostat near the service area, which I had not noticed before, saying it was a very efficient temperature control model. As we had our coffee, I asked him what funny things he encountered in his work. He told me that sometime the previous week, a lady had called saying she needed her HVAC installation checked because it was so loud it could wake the dead. The lady sounded so frustrated that he pitied her. He sent an a/c worker to go to her house for an air conditioner tune-up to decipher the problem with the quality HVAC. When he finished, he discovered that the electric heat pump had some loose parts that were making the noise, so he conducted an air conditioning service and repair. The lady was so impressed by their services that she called the indoor comfort business a week later to commend them on their job and also inquired about the cost of a new air conditioning system that would improve and help with indoor comfort. She must have done her homework on the ductless mini-split she wanted to be installed because she asked very informed questions. She went ahead to talk about her brother, who was also an a/c professional, and how he had taught her. At this point, I was in hysterics because he unknowingly described my encounter with him. Hearing someone else tell the ordeal was so funny, and when I finally stopped laughing, I let him in on the joke.
