I had been a nanny for this family for four years. They were such a sweet family, a lovely couple with two children that I adored. The boy was seven while the girl was four years old. I loved the energy they had, but sometimes I could not keep up with them. There is a time the couple had requested I watch the kids as they were going on a weekend getaway for their anniversary. When we were having supper, we heard a loud shuffling noise followed by a hissing sound. It was their geo heat pump, and I could not switch it off because it was a particularly chilly evening. The kids were so scared all through the night, and I had to sleep in their room. The following day, I first called their preferred heating dealer for home services. It was the third time since I was their nanny that we would be calling for heating repair. Compared to my gas furnace, they had what I considered the best HVAC in the heating industry. The only thing we had in common was the digital thermostat. The HVAC serviceman visited the residence to fix the problem and for heating maintenance, revealing the cause of the hissing sound. It was a clogged air conditioning filter. They replaced it and checked the ductwork to see if it had any leaks. We had noticed the air quality had reduced, and the HVAC tech suggested a filter with the new heating technology to use on the heating device for full service. The tech also did duct sealing on the two leaks he found.
