From the eyes of a stranger, Matteo seemed to be holding up well, but only a few close people knew that he was barely holding on.

His grandfather owned a funeral services company. When Matteo was younger, he did not like what his grandfather called their family business. When he was a grown-up, he decided to choose his path and joined the HVAC business. Matteo started as a simple HVAC repairman and became a known HVAC professional who had worked with popular HVAC brands in a couple of years. He upgraded the company’s HVAC unit with new HVAC equipment. He picked the best quality HVAC that uses new HVAC technology. The old HVAC system was in constant need of repairs and replacements of parts even with annual HVAC maintenance. The thermostat was almost as old as Matteo. He may not have liked his grandfather’s line of business, but he respected that he gave his best to give loved ones a decent send-off, and if the HVAC installation did help with indoor comfort during the wake, then he did his best to fix any issues. He now owned a local HVAC provider business, but he always found the time to help his grandfather if he needed help. Losing his grandpa was hard since he raised him, and at night I would hear him pour out his sorrow and then wake up and put a brave front to get by. He let the pain he was holding in during the burial take over.
