I can remember sort of laughing at my dad when he would be rubbing a hip or easing into a chair.
He often got stuff like, “old goat” from me.
But really, it was the start of dad slowing down. And when I offered him the snap about being an old man, he just smiled and reminded me that this would happen to me too. Yeah old guy because I’m for sure in that part of life now. Living plus finally working the way I have for the past nearly 40 years was not done so much with my health in mind. That is until the last year or so. And getting older is not so much fun from a certain perspective. Also leaving my job with that office that has zone controlled Heating plus A/C was another part of the slowing down process. However, once I was done, I didn’t just collapse into a chair in the air conditioning comfort of my family room. In fact, my spouse plus I moved to a place where the people I was with and I tripped often. And we’ve been here ever since. For sure, I’m even slower now. It’s numerous rounds of hockey instead of nothing. And I spend a lot more time outside in the sunroom. I observed that getting older comes with a lot more air conditioning comfort. Our sunroom has a ductless heat pump that keeps the Heating plus A/C cooling flowing in the summer. And the ductless heat pump removes the chill in the afternoon as well. I’m sort of accepting things for what they are. I’m still going strong just not as hard. And I’m thankful for all the air conditioning comfort that makes getting older just that much easier.
