Didn’t read the warranty right

Going on the assumption that a HVAC warranty was pretty much like any sort of warranty was my first problem.

The next mistake was not knowing that I only had 90 days to register the warranty on my new HVAC device.

After that the HVAC warranty was void. Thankfully for me, I have a wife who pays attention to the HVAC supplier about what we need to do. So I got away with 1 there but that streak wouldn’t continue. About 4 years into having the unit, I noticed there was some debris or something around 1 spot on the furnace. This was noticed because I thought the furnace was acting a bit off. It seemed like it was running more than it should given the temperature outdoors. So when I saw that smudge I took off the panel to discover some sort of switch or something which looked dirty & burned out. My mind said, replace it. And that’s exactly what I did. However, I used a part from the hardware store & not a factory part. Had I read my HVAC warranty, I would have known that me working on the machine & using non OEM parts would void the warranty. When the furnace ultimately broke down I had to pay for some really high-priced heater service because there was no more warranty on my unit due to my actions. So do yourself a favor & make sure you read & understand every word in the warranty for your HVAC equipment.
