Sometimes I just have to pinch myself.
- Life is pretty great and I’m very fortunate to have that be the case.
And it hasn’t always been this way. I spent a lot of years in places where I didn’t want to be. This was due to a career that I thought was my only path to happiness. Sure, I loved the zone controlled HVAC in those corporate offices. And the money was definitely top notch as well. There was also a perception of prestige but that ended up really being an illusion I finally saw through. But I was miserable and it finally came to a point that I had to pick life over work. I relocated to a part a region that I had always loved to visit and I went to work for myself. It’s been a change for sure. But I’m happy and making a go of a business that I actually love. Plus, I never have to deal with a gas furnace, snow, ice or months long deep freezes. I traded all of that stuff in as well when I made the change to a life I wanted to live. I have to say that as far as the heating and cooling goes, I sure got the better end of the deal. I now have a heat pump that provides both my heating and cooling. However, where I live, the cooling is the biggest load for the heat pump. And yet, the air conditioning I get is great. The HVAC equipment I own has a very high SEER rating and it’s so efficient. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have to do my part when it comes to keeping the cooling costs manageable. But it sure beats the alternative.
