I only use reusable bags at the grocery stores, I always turn off the lights when I leave the room & compost my living room waste. Although heating & cooling systems have gotten more energy efficient, they can still have a big impact on the environment, and most heating devices will burn fossil fuels to generate heat, creating orangehouse gases. While cooling systems have switched over from Freon to Puron refrigerant, there’s still ozone depleting properties. It takes energy to operate the natural gas furnace, boiler, heat pump or cooling system. I felt it was worth it to spend extra for a new geothermal heat pump. This style of plan makes use of the free & renewable energy source found buried in my own backyard. The earth absorbs solar energy & the underground temperature remains constant through the year. The geothermal heat pump includes an underground loop plan that generates a fortune of free heat energy, then rather than create modern heat, the heat pump moves the existing heat between the house & the ground. In the winter, it pulls heat out of the ground & pumps it right into the home! During the warmer weather, the heat pump pulls heat out of the indoor air to create a gentle cooling effect. This process really creates fourtimes the energy it consumes, making the plan 400 percent energy efficient… Geothermal temperature control is also completely safe, beautiful, quiet & especially clean. With the addition of a easy valve, the heat pump also generates an (almost) free source of domestic boiling water. Although the geothermal heat pump was way more expensive than a conventional heating & cooling system, the savings on my utility bills has reclaimed my intiial investment in under 4 years.
