A friend of mine was telling me about paradoxical undressing, which he had learned about in his psychology class at night school. As hard as it is to believe ,when freezing to death some people have their brains trick them into believing they are burning to death. No kidding, some people on the verge of hypothermia will strip naked and start rolling around in the snow. They think they are saving themselves from heat stroke, when in fact they are speeding up their own demise. I looked it up myself on my phone, and yup, he was actually telling the truth! I started talking about this at work the next day in front of some female coworkers, and my HVAC contractor boss really let me have it. I just thought it was neat, he told me it violated workplace conduct rules for his HVAC business, and I needed to not be so weird at work. I really like my job working heating and cooling installation, so I am being extra careful going forward. Even if what I’m talking about is technically related to heating and cooling, which makes it work appropriate, talking about getting undressed is definitely NOT work appropriate. I asked the HVAC contractor if it would be okay to call a meeting so I could apologize, because I didn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable, but he said no. He said that would just make it more uncomfortable, so for me to forget it, and going forward to only talk about heating and cooling while at work. Which is fair.
