I decided to come up with a maintenance plan for my heating and cooling systems.
I kind of feel bad for my furnace and air conditioning, it works so hard on keeping me cool in summer and warm in winter, and yet I commonly forget to do even the most basic repairs on both.
So as a reminder I started posting a sticky note where I knew I would see it, reminding myself of any potential maintenance repairs, duct cleaning and general cleaning of my HVAC systems that I had on my list of things to do. I took a while for the habit to start sinking in, but after a few months of doing this repeatedly, it was finally beginning to sink in. I don’t need the sticky notes as much any more, but now I am deciding to expand my HVAC technology further by investing in things like smart thermostats. After I have the smart thermostat installed, I will have everything heating and cooling related taken care of. I still have the HVAC tech come out every year to check on the condition of both of my air conditioner and furnace, to make sure that they are both working properly. Ever since I have made this HVAC plan, I haven’t had any issues forgetting about my HVAC systems, or have I had problems with the HVAC units themselves. It just goes to show with a little care and effort, the heating and cooling systems can treat you well for a long time, and you will save a lot of money in the long run.
