Gus Presents Idea of Emergency Boiler Rental and Temporary Chiller Rental to Bosses

As assistant manager at the industrial equipment company, Gus decided to make a proposal to the manager and the owners.

He put together a slide presentation and gathered with them in the conference room.

After observing the havoc caused by boilers and chillers in need of repair at factories, on college campuses, at supermarkets, and so on, Gus wanted to help them keep their plants and businesses running even while he was there fixing their chiller problems. He wanted his company to invest in something new. He wanted them to start a new branch of the business that would provide their clients a way to keep working. Temporary chiller rental and temporary boiler rental. That would be the focus of the new department. The bosses looked at him like he had two heads. They had no vision, really. I mean, it’s kind of understandable. Industrial boilers and chillers weigh tons. They are made of super thick metal welded together and have to hold up under humongous amounts of pressure. How in the world did Gus expect them to get a temporary boiler rental company underway? Were they just supposed to throw an industrial chiller into the back of a pickup and drive it out to the plant and plug it in next to the lamp in the secretary’s office? Gus didn’t bring up the emergency boiler rental idea again, but he didn’t forget about it, either. He remembered that the navy could have saved tens of thousands of dollars if the ship would have had one because the sailors would not have had to have been housed in hotels that time they were in port waiting for boiler repair.
