I’m not used to being alone anymore.
Ever since my son went overseas, my husband and I have been taking care of our ten-year-old grandson.
He is a fascinating young man. He wants to know everything he can learn about everything. My husband is an HVAC technician. He works some long hours and our grandson adores him. He even asked if he could go along on his service calls so he could learn more about air conditioners and furnaces. My husband was glowing. He was so thrilled to have this young man want to tag along with him. When he was called to a house because the furnace wasn’t working, he took Mason with him. The furnace ultimately had to be replaced. The owners hadn’t changed the air filters, which caused a lack of airflow. The airflow had been blocked off for quite some time because it had caused irreparable damage to the furnace. My husband told them they were lucky to have called for HVAC service when they did. They could have ended up with carbon monoxide leaking into the house, which could be deadly. Later that week, my husband was working his regular shift with the HVAC company. My grandson disappeared for a couple minutes. At first I thought nothing about it until I heard him coming from the basement. He told me he had changed the air filters in the furnace and the air conditioning unit. He wanted nothing happening to me if the air filters were neglected and carbon monoxide leaked into the air. I don’t know what I did before I had him around all the time.
