As a kid, I had always had the luxury of going to a school that had an efficient HVAC system.
When it was a hot day, the air conditioners were running in every class room and when it was winter and cold outside, the furnace kept the building a perfect temperature.
Unfortunately, my days at college did not have the same air conditioning and furnace luxurie as my childhood. The college I attend does have an HVAC system but it is not well kept nor is it serviced by an HVAC technician very often. Often I will be sitting in class and it will be very warm. In the middle of class the teacher will set the thermostat at a lower temperature. I can hear the air conditioner kick on and I let out a sigh of relief. But it isn’t long before I start to shiver because of the air conditioner. Then the teacher goes back to the thermostat and turns the temperature back up by two degrees and the furnace kicks on! A few teachers have put in a complaint about the HVAC system but the board usually doesn’t call the HVAC company or even show a whiff of concern. Thankfully, the principal finally complained about the HVAC system. The school called the company and an HVAC technician came and serviced our HVAC system. He told us that both the furnace and the air conditioning part of the HVAC system were malfunctioning and that it would take a few hours to repair. It has been a few days since the HVAC technician fixed the furnace and air conditioner and I can definitely say that thanks to the technician, staying focused during class time is much easier.
