It is so funny to mean that kids these days have so much more and so much less to worry about than I did growing up.
By that, I mean that I’m glad we did not have the internet when I was in high school because that seems like a torture factory for any child.
But at the same time, we had to worry a lot about all of our activities when we were younger because most of them were illegal and they were far more difficult to coordinate without cell phones in our pockets. I mean, kids these days can legally purchase marijuana. Meanwhile, I had to store all of my illicit belongings inside of my air duct work at my parents house in order to stay safe. You see, I learned early on that I did not have many good hiding places in the house… But my air vent was a particularly excellent one. Nobody ever bothered to unscrew the air vents and check inside of the ductwork for unwanted items when I was growing up. As long as I kept the air vent open so that my room did not fluctuate in temperature from the rest of the indoor air quality control settings, I was golden. I made sure that my belongings did not provide any odor to the indoor air flowing through my ducts, and I never got caught. That is… Until the day that we had a heating, cooling, and ventilation system breakdown. One morning we woke up and the furnace was not operating. My parents had to call the local indoor air quality control dealership to arrange a professional HVAC inspection. That’s when I finally got busted… By the heating and cooling technician checking for obstructions in our ductwork.
