So this Spring, the first air conditioner bill didn’t break my mind. Last year, I was aghast at the first utility bill my good friend and I got once the air conditioner started up. But I’ve learned a lot about living down here over the past year, then for one, I learned that letting the air conditioner just go wild is a bad idea. This Spring, my husband plus I have left the windows open plus allowed our bodies to adjust to the rising temperatures. This is just pretty much usual sense when you absolutely think about it. The more my good friend and I actemperature to the heat plus humidity, the less demand we’ll be putting on the air conditioner. But this is all new to us as we’ve never encountered a Summer of this sort. In fact, my good friend and I lived so far north that all I did for cooling comfort was put in a window air conditioner unit. And that was only in the study room. So last year was an experience that my good friend and I won’t soon repeat. Another large lesson I learned was the affect that direct sun heating has on a home. This was the reason why the first air conditioner bills were just outrageous. Since my good friend and I live on 10 acres, my good friend and I decided to do without drapes plus shades for the first time ever. It was beautiful until the direct sun heating nearly killed the bank account. So my good friend and I now have solar shades that do an amazing task of mitigating the direct sun heating affect. Already, my good friend and I slashed the air conditioner bills by 30 percent. And I hope to be able to carry those cooling savings forward into the Summer. Our finances just aren’t up to another overpriced Summer of air conditioner.
