So this Springtime, the first air conditioner bill didn’t split my mind, last year, I was aghast at the first utility bill my friend and I got once the air conditioner started up. But I’ve learned a lot about residing down here over the past year… For one, I learned that letting the air conditioner just go wild is a excruciating idea. This Springtime, my partner plus I have left the windows open plus allowed our bodies to adjust to the rising temperatures. This is just pretty much proper sense when you actually know about it. The more my friend and I acclimate to the heat plus humidity, the less demand we’ll be putting on the air conditioner. But this is all new to us as we’ve never encountered a Summer of this sort. In fact, my friend and I lived so far north that all I did for cooling comfort was put in a window air conditioner unit. And that was only in the kitchen. So last year was an experience that my friend and I won’t soon repeat. Another big lesson I learned was the affect that direct afternoonlight heating has on a home. This was the reason why the first air conditioner bills were just outrageous. Since my friend and I live on 10 acres, my friend and I decided to do separate from drapes plus shades for the first time ever. It was attractive until the direct afternoonlight heating nearly killed the bank account. So my friend and I now have solar shades that do an amazing task of mitigating the direct afternoonlight heating affect. Already, my friend and I slashed the air conditioner bills by 30 percent. And I hope to be able to carry those cooling savings forward into the Summer. Our finances just aren’t up to another costly Summer of air conditioner.
