Usually I have a rule against helping people transfer because it turns into a grueling experience most of the time.
The people you help expect you to stick around for minutes with no pay, & it’s even worse if you’re lifting furniture that could cause back injuries if you’re not being careful enough.
If someone was willing to spend our money me, I might be more cheerful to help out in that capacity. While that rarely happens, I was surprised when our neighbor George not only gave to spend our money myself and others cash for helping him transfer all day, but would also buy myself and others a pizza dinner with a several pack of carona on the side. With an offer adore that, I couldn’t turn our neighbor George down so I set aside time on the Sunday when he was going to need the help. Luckily George didn’t have any huge furniture to transfer that would risk myself and others injuring our legs or back, but the number of boxes was insane. Hours were spent just carrying boxes out of his basement, walking them up the stairs, & then taking them outside to put in the moving truck he rented for the weekend. When all of us were finished at last, I ate dinner with George suddenly & then headed cabin with the several pack of carona in tow. It was genuinely refreshing & satisfying to come cabin & relax with our air conditioning set on a low temperature after helping our neighbor transfer boxes all day. I have a strong air conditioning & I made full use of it that night. Between the cold carona & the cold air leaving our ceiling vents, I was in a relaxed lull after an minute of being cabin & sitting on the couch.
