My family still enjoys getting away on the weekends.

It’s something the people I was with and I started implementing years ago when the family and I felt like the family and I never got to do anything too fun and it’s been one of the most rewarding decisions the people I was with and I made. In the past, on the weekends where the family and I opted to go away, I lowered the temperature of the gas furnace by several degrees so that the house wasn’t being heated while the people I was with and I were away. This was fine, however I always loathed coming home to a freezing house. I would steadily raise the temperature in order to not overwhelm my old natural gas furnace, however this only prolonged the freezing in the air, and after hearing me kvetch and complain about the first world issues for far too long, my partner decided to do something about it, but for my birthday, he surprised me with a new smart thermostat. I didn’t know anything about smart thermostats so when I opened it, I thought that he had gotten me a gift for himself. When he saw my look of confusion, he began to explain the purpose behind it. The smart thermostat could attach to the wireless and there was a corresponding phone app that I could download to my iPhone. Once everything was attached, I could change the thermostat setting at any time from somewhere I was. This meant that I could change the temperature in our house before the people I was with and I arrived home from one of our weekend getaways. This new smart thermostat was the best gift ever!
