I try to live a life focused in good and honorable intentions. This isn’t as easy as it seems. For much of my life, I really didn’t pay attention to the intentions behind the way I lived my life and interacted with others. Being completely real about it was eye opening. But still, even with the right intentions, things go awry. What I did to the HVAC unit is a perfect example of good intentions gone horribly wrong. It’s just my wife and I at home now. The kids are starting their own lives and both are in college. So coming home to an empty house has been a change for me. But instead of freaking out about it, I tried to find the most positives I could. And one of those positives was that I normally beat my wife home and like to just sit and soak up the air conditioning all alone. It’s a really nice part of my day. I came home a few weeks ago all ready to dive into all that HVAC cooling I’d been thinking about since like 3pm. What I walked into was more of a sauna. The air conditioning was running but there was no cool air. It was after normal business hours so I didn’t want to pay the extra HVAC service fee for after hours. But I didn’t want to deal with a hot sticky house either. So with my best intentions in place, I tried to fix the HVAC equipment on my own. That went about as poorly as it could. Fortunately, my wife came home and stopped me before I completely ruined the heat pump.
