Our heat pump stopped working after a snowstorm

Last fall, we had an eventful season.

Some of the animals in our group became ill, and we had to euthanize them.

There was a severe bug going around that had affected other farms in the area. While salvaging the situation, we forgot to call the heating unit expert to service the heat pump. Once winter came, we had all the animals feeling better and tucked away in their warm barns. My uncle turned on the heat pump to start warming the house when it became too cold. At first, everything was going well, but we experienced a sudden drop in temperature due to a snowstorm. My aunt opted to crank up the heat to keep everyone comfortable. That was a mistake because the heat pump shut off without showing any signs of a problem. No one knew what to do since the heat pump was the main source of warmth. But, we had to find a solution for the time being. Even if my uncle phoned the heat pump mechanic, there was no way they’d get to our home with a snowstorm outside. We went to the arctic and fetched three portable AC units to heat the main parts of the house. The portable air conditioner had been bought last year when the AC system in the burn stopped working. Since then, we’ve kept them away just in case of another emergency in summer or winter. These portable HVACs were sufficient enough to keep the living spaces. My cousins and I opted to sleep in the living room while my aunt and uncle took one to their bedroom. They’d get in touch with the heat pump expert the next day for assistance. My uncle noted that he was sure missing the heat pump maintenance plan was the root of the problem.
