When our son was growing up, he showed a lot of promise in school.
I think the only thing he struggled with was what he wanted to do as a career.
That was afterall the most important thing, figuring out what you want to do with your life. He once thought he wanted to be a scientist, and then a firefighter, and then a truck driver. When he was in high school, they had a career day event and they brought in all kinds of different professionals. He said the HVAC professional really caught his attention and he realized that was the type of work that he wanted to do. He was pretty sure of himself and so we made arrangements for him to go to an HVAC trade school. He excelled in his classes and before we knew it, he was getting his HVAC certification. He started off at some local HVAC company and he did alright there. He was always looking out for everybody in the family offering discounted services. We told him he could get in trouble if he kept doing that, but he wasn’t worried. Well, his boss ended up finding out he was giving family discounted rates for HVAC services, and he ended up getting fired. He was not even bothered about it though, he said he already knew he could start up his own HVAC company. He worked hard to make that happen. It’s funny because now his HVAC business is doing better than the HVAC company that fired him! We sure are proud of him.
