I was really proud of my brother when he became an HVAC professional.
It was even more impressive when he started his own HVAC contractor a few years later.
There was only one other HVAC company in town and they had a terrible reputation. When my brother started his business, they actually threatened to run him out of town. Of course my brother wasn’t afraid of cheap threats and nothing ever happened. My brother did take a lot of the business though and forced the other HVAC business to lower their prices to keep some of their clients. Well, it’s great to see my brother is doing well and his business is booming, but I’m also bummed out. I used to be able to spend more time with my brother when he wasn’t so busy all the time. He is out there all the time working countless hours and it makes me wonder if he ever gets any sleep. His business means more to him than anything though and he focuses on work all the time. The little amount of time that he does have he chooses to spend with his wife and kids. I have gone over to his house a number of times and usually he is not there. It’s almost impossible to get him on the cellphone and I will usually leave him a message. The last time I actually did talk to him was at the last family reunion which was a great time. He even provided HVAC rentals for the venue we were at, and the place was so comfortable. I think that generated more business for his HVAC company too.
