Sometimes it feels like life is out to get you, and that nothing can go right in some moments.
I have been through multiple rough patches in my life, but nowadays I can look back and smile, knowing that I made it through.
It started when I was a kid, and I was failing school. I always tried my hardest, and knowing I was failing terrified me. I thought that I was going to grow up and work at fast food restaurants for the rest of my life. Instead of getting angry at me, my mom sat me down and told me these words. It may seem difficult now, but you’ll make it through, and one day you can look back, smile and say I did it, another challenge defeated. She was right, and whenever I go through a hard time, I say these words to myself, and that makes things better. Knowing that tomorrow is another day, and one day this issue that I am facing will be history. I remember one time in particular I was at a low point. I lived in a tiny apartment alone, the apartment was in a bad neighborhood, and I had police come to my door fairly often. Sometime in the middle of the night, the heater broke when it was below freezing outside. I laid there in my bed seeking warmth, but I stayed cold the entire night. It took months before the furnace could be fixed by a professional HVAC tech. Those months without a heater were miserable. My landlord never sent out a heating specialist, I had to call a heating professional on my own to get it fixed. I am long past those days, and I never have to worry about a bad apartment or my HVAC system breaking down.
