I miss my corporate wellness program

Over the past couple of years, directors have been more and more responsible for their workers, both at work and after it.

There has to be some perks with every job.

What is your boss going to offer? How do they keep a happy staff? My director completely pays for my health insurance, which comes in at right around $1000 per week. If they didn’t give money for that, there is no way I could afford good health insurance. That’s about the only real perk I get though. There is no money matching. There is no retirement plan. One thing I entirely do wish they would offer is a health and wellness package. My previous director offered a health and wellness benefit that included reimbursement of funds spent on improving your health. I went to nutritional counseling for a few sessions, and they reimbursed me for it. Then, I joined a local gym, and they reimbursed me the cost of the gym membership. If I wanted to take a few workout classes, such as kickboxing or spin, they would have paid for that as well. That was a benefit I particularly enjoyed. I wish my current director would see the value of corporate wellness programs, as well. I know they spend money to increase productivity of employees and fewer sick nights being taken. I am interested in retaining the services of certified fitness experts, but that can be expensive. Even with a gym membership, the cost of a fitness expert is a bit.
