For the past couple of weeks, my co-workers and I have been working on a construction project downtown.
The new office building will be home to 150 offices and conference rooms.
At this moment, all of us are putting up drywall in the building. The building is 7 stories in height and all of us are only 3 floors through the replacement task. That building has not been hooked up with a Heating and Air Conditioning appliance yet, so all of us have been using a portable chiller to cool the building… It’s 95 degrees outside and the humidity is 100%. It’s really impossible to focus on a task with such brutal heat and humidity. My co-workers and I would not be able to task well with the overheated temperatures if all of us didn’t have a portable chiller. The foreman on this task rented a 500-ton portable chiller. It arrived on the back of a semi truck. The portable chiller is situated inside a fenced space right next to the building. There are huge tubes running from the water cooled chiller to the building. The large tubes send air through the building. In order to save time and money, all of us only cool one floor of the building at a time. All of the tubes are blowing frosty air into the third floor right now. All of us are about halfway done with the drywall on that floor, and Sunday, all of us will move the portable chiller tubes to the fourth floor. That space will be entirely cool while all of us task on finishing the drywall. The portable chiller provides a good amount of cool air and comfort while all of us are working and the task gets done more speedily when my coworkers and I are comfortable on the work location.
