I’m sure you’ll all see the memes at this point, even if you don’t have kids. Massive school shutdowns across the entire country have really hit people hard, present company included. All four of my kids will now be home 100% of the time for the next two weeks at least, it could go on for several more weeks. Being trapped inside for so long with your kids makes us all feel a little like Jack in The Shining, being haunted by the ghost of cabin fever. Now with that in mind, imagine how much crazier everything would be if you totally lost all air conditioning? As tense as things have been getting, now everything is escalating as the house begins slowly heating up throughout the day. It won’t begin cooling off naturally until after dusk, and the house won’t get comfortable until near midnight. The next morning it all starts again, the gradual heating eating away at our sanity and making us all want to turn on one another. I called a few different HVAC companies, but no one was answering the phone. Finally I got one guy on the line, but he told me they weren’t doing residential HVAC systems. He said they had a priority to focus on the air conditioning and ventilation systems for hospitals and old folks homes first and foremost, and he didn’t know when residential service would begin again. I guess that means if I want this A/C fixed I need to get online and start searching for some answers of my own.
