Moving in with my brother and his family was quite an adjustment for me.
But, I was determined to make a new position work then move out.
The pandemic was so devastating for business that I lost my job in the city where I lived. Thanks to my brother’s wife, it was almost a year plus before I landed another one. She knew I was searching for a job and put in a good word in a company she knew. I went for an interview, passed, and moved in with them until I managed to get a place of my own. As winter began, we were getting ready for crazy weather and chose to ensure the outdoor HVAC. My brother was afraid the snowstorm would affect the air conditioning system. So, he suggested we place a cover over the unit to keep it safe. I wasn’t sure about the idea since the HVAC system needed better airflow. However, we chose to go with his idea. That’s when the issues with the heating system began. We woke up one morning only to realize the heating system had shut off at night. The house was so cold. Upon looking at the outdoor HVAC, we realized moisture had formed on the unit, causing it to freeze. The best solution was to give it time to thaw as we called the area HVAC specialist to come and solve the matter. The HVAC specialist informed us that the unit was shut off as it thawed. It was cold outside, so we knew it would take time for this to happen.
