We had no intention to move to such a cold place. But, our daughter wanted to attend a school in the area. It had the best programs in the country, which she loved, and we wanted to support her. The school had the option of day or boarding school. Boarding school didn’t appeal to us, so we moved to the area and got jobs so that she’d come home in the evening. The area was well known for freezing winters, so we had to do some due diligence about the heating system. We bought a house that came with a heat pump. The realtor assured us the heating system was in good working condition. However, we’d always been cautious and opted to hire an HVAC expert to come to inspect it. It took 2 days for an HVAC expert to come and evaluate the heating system. He suggested if we wanted better heating in the house, we replace the heat pump before moving in. It would cost so much money to replace and install the heat pump, but we knew we’d get the best. The company he worked for had excellent reviews online. We purchased a new heat pump from the HVAC company, and they came to install it as we were moving in. During that first winter, we were always comfortable. The heat pump kept us warm even in negative 10 degrees, and not once did it require repairs for the months of winter. Come spring, we had to call the HVAC expert back to service the system and ensure there were no worn-out parts.
