Emergency fund for expensive repairs

I wasn’t taking any chances and wanted to get a HVAC technician out now, so I already have a HVAC appointment.

Ever since I was broken in college, with debt and expensive bills hanging over my head, I have always set an emergency repair fund away. Every paycheck, I take about $50 put it away for future use in my emergency fund. I’ve done this ever since I had an insanely expensive car repair when I was in college. I was using a pretty crappy car, since it was all I could afford, and I should have figured it was going to break down sooner or later. When it did, the dealership said it had multiple problems and racked up a really expensive price. I had to beg my parents to let me loan their money to pay for it, and then work overtime to pay the bill. That was a horrible and miserable experience, and I never wanted to experience something like that again, so I specifically started my own emergency repair fund, so I will have extra money in times of need. I’m glad I did, because for the last few days, my cooling system has been acting up. It not only has been making noises, but it will randomly turn off and restart itself. I wasn’t taking any chances and wanted to get a HVAC technician out now, so I already have a HVAC appointment. If it does break and needs a HVAC repair, that will probably be really expensive, thankfully I am prepared. The HVAC specialist is supposed to come out this Wednesday to assess the damage. I’m hoping I am wrong and that it is something much smaller, but it probably isn’t. My HVAC appointment isn’t for a few days, so I hope my air conditioning system can last that long.
